It is an adventurous Himalayan journey combining the crossing of Thorong La Pass (5,416 m) with the ascent of Chulu Far East (6,059 m). The trip offers trekking through the Annapurna region, high-altitude acclimatization, and an exciting Himalayan peak-climbing experience.

This is a challenging adventure suitable for physically fit trekkers with good endurance. You should be prepared for long trekking days, high altitude, steep snow or ice slopes, and basic mountaineering activities.

The highest point is the summit of Chulu Far East at 6,059 m (19,879 ft). Thorong La Pass, at 5,416 m (17,769 ft), is another major high-altitude point on the journey.

Previous high-altitude trekking experience is highly recommended. Although extensive technical climbing experience may not always be required, you should be comfortable using basic mountaineering equipment and following your climbing guide’s instructions.

The itinerary generally takes around 17–21 days, depending on the chosen route, acclimatization schedule, weather conditions, and additional days reserved for the summit attempt.

The best seasons are generally spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These periods usually offer more stable weather and favorable conditions for trekking and climbing.

Acclimatization is extremely important because the trip reaches elevations above 6,000 meters. A carefully planned itinerary with gradual altitude gain and rest days helps reduce the risk of altitude-related illness.

Your guide will monitor your condition and take appropriate action. Depending on the severity of symptoms, this may include rest, stopping further ascent, or descending to a lower altitude. Safety always takes priority over reaching the summit.

You will need appropriate trekking and mountaineering equipment, which may include mountaineering boots, crampons, an ice axe, harness, helmet, ropes, warm clothing, gloves, and a sleeping bag. Some technical equipment may be provided or arranged by the climbing operator.

Yes, climbing with an experienced and properly qualified guide is strongly recommended. Your guide will assist with route planning, safety procedures, technical equipment, and summit decisions.

Accommodation usually includes hotels in Kathmandu and teahouses or lodges during the trekking portion. At higher elevations and during the climbing phase, accommodation may include more basic facilities or tented camps.

Teahouses offer a variety of meals, including traditional Nepali dishes, rice, noodles, soups, potatoes, vegetables, and other trekking-friendly foods. During the climbing period, meals are generally prepared according to the expedition arrangement.

Temperatures can drop significantly at high altitude, particularly at night and during an early-morning summit attempt. Conditions vary depending on the season, weather, and wind, so proper insulated clothing is essential.

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended. Your policy should provide adequate coverage for high-altitude trekking, peak climbing, emergency evacuation, and helicopter rescue, according to the activities and altitude included in your trip.

The journey requires the necessary permits for trekking in the Annapurna region and climbing Chulu Far East. Your trekking or climbing agency normally arranges the required permits as part of the trip services.

Mountain weather can change quickly, and summit success can never be guaranteed. If conditions are unsafe, the climbing guide may postpone or cancel the summit attempt. A flexible itinerary with contingency days can improve the chances of a successful ascent.

This adventure is best suited to fit trekkers with previous high-altitude trekking experience and a strong sense of adventure. Beginners may participate if they have excellent physical preparation and receive proper guidance, but prior experience in trekking and basic mountaineering is highly beneficial.

You should begin physical preparation several weeks or months before the trip. Focus on cardiovascular endurance, hiking, stair climbing, strength training, and long-distance walking with a backpack. Previous experience at high altitude can also be very beneficial.

Summit success depends on several factors, including weather conditions, physical fitness, acclimatization, technical ability, and overall health during the expedition. While reaching the summit is a major goal, safety is always the first priority, and the final decision is made by the climbing guide based on mountain conditions and the climber’s condition.
