Lukla Flight Schedule Update

Due to increasing air traffic congestion at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu), flights to and from Lukla operate from Manthali Airport in Ramechhap during peak trekking seasons. This adjustment ensures smoother flight operations, minimizes delays, and enhances overall safety for travelers heading to the Everest region.

Seasonal Flight Changes (Peak Trekking Periods)

Outside of peak seasons (December–February and June–August), flights generally operate from Kathmandu. However, occasional rerouting to Manthali may still occur due to air traffic conditions.

Why the Change?

Weather Considerations

During peak trekking seasons, your Everest journey begins with an early morning drive (around 2:00 AM) from Kathmandu to Manthali Airport, followed by a scenic 15-minute flight to Lukla with breathtaking Himalayan views. After landing in Lukla (2,860m), you will enjoy a gentle 3-hour trek to Phakding (2,652m), walking past traditional Sherpa villages and ancient Buddhist mani walls. On your return, a short flight brings you back to Manthali, followed by a 4–5 hour drive to Kathmandu. As Lukla flights are weather-dependent, we strongly recommend keeping 1–2 buffer days in your itinerary. Our team arranges comfortable private transportation between Kathmandu and Manthali and provides full check-in assistance to ensure a smooth travel experience. After completing your Everest adventure, you can further enrich your journey with cultural sightseeing in Kathmandu, a jungle safari in Chitwan National Park, whitewater rafting, or a relaxing escape to Pokhara — all customizable according to your interests.
